Matthieu Girel is an independent product designer based in Lausanne. He graduated in applied arts and industrial design from Ecole Cantonale D'art De Lausanne (ECAL) in France and has been working as an assistant in industrial design courses at EPFL/ECAL laboratory since 2012. Since 2013, Girel has been running his own design studio, working on projects ranging from products and furniture to accessories and scenography. Inspired by science fiction, geometry and craft, she has created creations for industrial brands such as Alessi, numbered pieces for Nob gallery and large-scale scenography for Vevey Images. Recently nominated for the Design Preis Scweiz and Swiss Design Award for his “hypercollection”, Girel continues to collaborate with other designers.
